
Slow Travel in Gobernadora Island near Coiba National Park
Isla Gobernadora is located in the Veraguas province and it is part of the Gulf of Montijo Wetlands, a recognized RAMSAR site. Isla Gobernadora is near the famous waves of Santa Catalina and the wonders lying beneath the waters of Coiba National Park.
To get there: From Panama City, drive to Santiago de Veraguas, the commercial hub between Panama City and Costa Rica (About 2 hours). Drive to the city center.
Here you have two options:
- Go to Isla Gobernadora by Santa Catalina (HICACO) - take the direction of SONA and Santa Catalina. (Estimated transportation time: 3 hours) and from Hicaco (half an hour by boat) to reach the island.
- Go to Isla Gobernadora by Puerto Mutis: once in the city center of Santiago, take the direction of Puerto Mutis (45 minutes). A speed boat will wait for you: (45 minutes) to reach the Gobernadora Island - (this option requires an additional payment of US$65/person)
