Manejar en Panamá puede ser muy confuso dado la falta de señalización vial. Abajo encontrará instrucciones detallada del aeropuerto de Tocumen hasta Gamboa.
Saliendo del aeropuerto de Tocumen, dobla a la izquierda en dirección de la cuidad de Panamá. Se necesita mas de 45 minutos para recoger Tocumen-Gamboa, sin embargo, se puede tomar el doble del tiempo en las horas picos de la mañana y de la tarde – especialmente en la sección de la carretera Panamá-Arraijan. Sigue siempre la señalización Panamá Centro hacia el segundo Puente que cruza la carretera Transismica. Pasaran el poblado San Miguelito, dos semáforos y el KIA en su mano derecha. Dobla a la derecha a la intersección. Dobla a la derecha.
A esta altura, llegara a la autopista Arraijan-Panamá, la cual se dirige hacia la entrada del corredor Norte. Maneja recto y pasa la estación de gasolina Esso y arriba del corredor Norte. Sigue recto, NO TOMAR LA SALIDA DEL CORREDOR NORTE. Sigue recto hasta que llegara en las dobles vías y pasara el ROD CAREW BASEBALL STADIUM. Después de 10 kilómetros, llegara a la salida Gamboa-Paraíso, cerca de la salida del Puente Centenario cual traversa el Canal de Panamá (no toma esta dirección). A la salida, sigue recto y pasara a su derecha el Summit Golf&Resort. Sigue recta hasta llegar hasta la señalización GAMBOA. Doblar a la izquierda y maneja10 kilómetros y llegara al puente de Gamboa. Después del Puente, sigue recto hasta la intersección y dobla a la derecha, sube la calle hasta la segunda calle a su izquierda, baja la loma por una calle y dobla a la izquierda en la siguiente.

Getting there
Panama City is simple, yet confusing due to the lack of road signage. In Panama, we find places by important landmarks. Below you will find simple and detailed driving instructions from the Tocumen International Airport to Gamboa.
Exiting the Tocumen Airport, turn left and head to Panama City by following the Panama Centro sign and stay in that lane. This highway is very busy during the morning and evening peak hours. It takes approximately 45 minutes to drive from Tocumen to Gamboa, however, during morning and evening peak hours prepare to double this time -especially from the airport to the Autopista Panama-Arraijan intersection. You will need to drive thru several secondary underpasses and two main overpasses on the same highway, one is an overpass bridge located about 5 minutes from the airport and the other is an overpass bridge that crosses the Transisthmian Highway. Follow the Panama Centro signs. Once you cross the 2nd overpass bridge, you will be exiting the town of San Miguelito. You will cross two traffic lights, the first is in front of a McDonald's and the second is about .1 km away in front of an abandoned hardware store. After the second traffic light, you will pass the KIA Car dealer on your right - follow the main highway interchange. At the intersection turn right.
At this point you have reached the PANAMA - ARRAIJAN HIGHWAY, which also leads you to the Corredor Norte entrance. You will need to drive straight ahead, pass an ESSO on the Run GAS STATION and over the Corredor Norte. Please continue straight, DO NOT TAKE THE CORREDOR NORTE EXIT. Keep straight until you reach a 4-lane road that winds uphill and then downhill past the ROD CAREW BASEBALL STADIUM. This is the beginning of the Panama - Arraijan Highway. You should be reaching the exit to Gamboa-Paraiso within 10 minutes, this exit is located just before the CENTENARY BRIDGE across the Panama Canal . On this exit keep right at all times to follow the GAMBOA exit sign, from here you will be driving in a single lane, asphalt road that will lead you thru and will take you approximately 3 minutes reach you will pass the SUMMIT GOLF & RESORT to your right hand side and you will need to pass a small tunnel. The Gamboa entrance is to your left, turn left here.
The Gamboa entrance is the only main left hand turn and you will find a cement sign to your left that reads PARQUE NACIONAL SOBERANIA. To your right is the Parque Nacional Soberania administration building and now you are on the Gamboa Highway. You will pass the SUMMIT BOTANICAL GARDENS, the entrance to the CANOPY TOWER, and EL CHARCO TRAIL all at your right hand side and just before you reach the Gamboa Bridge you will be passing the RENACER PENITENTIARY at your left hand side. All the above are well marked and easy to spot as you drive thru.
You have reached the Gamboa Bridge. Please wait for your green light, drive across the Gamboa bridge. Once off the bridge, drive straight ahead until you find a sign that reads Gamboa. At the Y intersection keep right, drive uphill until the 2nd left turn, and drive downhill for one block and next left again.
Ivan's Bed & Breakfast is House 111, a white wooden house with peach trimming and is the second house on your left. A sign Ivan's Bed & Breakfast is in the front yard and has a covered carport with an inflatable boat (not always there if I'm out on a tour).
If you are arriving to Tocumen International Airport after dark and have never driven in Panama City we strongly recommend you arrange airport pick with us. Most car rentals will deliver their rental cars to Gamboa the next morning. Make sure you inform them that vehicle will be returned at the airport.
FROM PANAMA CITY TO GAMBOA:
Get instructions to drive from where you are to the Gelabert Airport and / or Albrook area.
Once you locate the Gelabert Airport or Albrook area, you need to get on the Omar Torrijos highway (the highway around the airport runway) and head north.
You will be passing the Gelabert Airport, former Panama Canal residence areas, the Knowledge City or Ciudad del Saber which is in front of the Miraflores Locks at the Panama Canal, and the Town of Pedro Miguel.
After the Pedro Miguel Locks (the second set of locks) and the Town of Paraiso, you will then go uphill. After passing under the Centenary Bridge highway, it will take aprox 3 minutes to reach the next main intersection on your left. This is the Gamboa road entrance. You will see to your right the Parque Nacional Soberania Administration Building, just follow signs that will lead you to Gamboa. It will take you aprox 10 minutes to reach the Gamboa Bridge from this main intersection. Once you have reached the Gamboa single lane Bridge, please wait for your green light. Once off the bridge drive straight ahead until you find a sign that reads Gamboa. At the Y intersection please keep right, drive uphill until the 2nd left turn, and drive downhill for one block and next left again.
