Ivan's Bed and Breakfast

Address: House 111 Jadwin Ave, Gamboa, Gamboa

The house was built with Canadian redwood, concrete foundations and hardwood floors. Designed by the U.S Corp of Engineers in the mid 1930's, it was originally used by the employees of Panama Canal Company, who were assigned to Dredging Division located in the historic town of Gamboa.

Today, the quaint town of Gamboa is part of Soberania National Park and Panama Canal, protected watershed areas with beautiful rainforest and many options to explore the surrounding area.

This hidden gem is great for naturalists, bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts where you are able to see them from the comfort of Ivan's backyard - even a family of Agoutis calls it home! Everything is clean, comfortable and with his family's humble hospitality, you'll want to call it home too. If you're looking for an alternative to a large hotel resort and want to stay in a historical setting surrounded by nature, this is the place for you!

Facilities & Services

Ivan's Bed and Breakfast is an eco-lodge in Gamboa that invites you to a pleasant stay near Panama City. You can relax and enjoy stories about the country's rich history and its traditions or take advantage of the surrounding nature and wildlife by exploring the rich biodiversity of Gamboa. Ivan himself is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about wildlife and can take you out himself in his boat or on a guided walk. He can also arrange the perfect guide to cater to your specific interests in a special bird or a rare animal.

Start your day with an excellent home-cooked Panamanian breakfast while enjoying the nature of Gamboa! Included in the rate, breakfast is served from 7-9 a.m. but if you're going out early to catch the birds or wildlife, they can prepare something for you to take with you to keep you going. Also by previous arrangement, for $15, Gladys can cook up a delicious dinner in the evening - a great option considering the limited availability in town.

Ivan's backyard is a great place to relax, watch the comings and goings of local Toucan or Agoutis, chat with other guests or just read a book. Alternatively, their large living room in the house provides even greater comfort with comfy couches. Whatever you're interested in, you'll feel at home. Plus with so many birding opportunities just outside your room, you might not even make it Pipeline Road!
