Gamboa Rainforest Resort

The resort rests on 340 acres (137 Hectares) in Gamboa overlooking the Chagres River and Panama Canal, only 32 Km (20 miles) from Panama City.

The villas, originally built in the 1930's and 40's, are the former residences of U.S. Panama Canal administrators and their families worked on dredging the canal. They have been completely refurbished to capture the ambience of the original buildings while adding air-conditioning and other amenities to make your stay more comfortable.

The Gamboa Rainforest Resort facility consists of 167 luxury, air-conditioned riverfront rooms, each with private balconies and hammocks to admire the spectacular views of the Chagres River and the surrounding Soberania National Park.

The resort offers you a variety of excursions, entertainment and leisure options and three choices for dining. The tour desk and concierge can help you arrange your visit to take full advantage of all the area has to offer. You can visit the freshwater aquarium, orchid and botanical gardens, butterfly nursery, turtle and iguana nesting areas, a reptile exhibit, historical and cultural displays, or sign up for various nature and observation tours. Tour highlights include the Night Safari, bird watching on Pipeline Road or trekking on the Chunga Chagres Trail.

However, your appreciation of this tropical environment doesn't have to stop at the forest floor. For a bird's eye view of the Soberania National Park and Panama Canal, climb aboard their specially designed aerial trams and glide quietly through the rainforest canopy, where you'll encounter plants and animals rarely seen by visitors on the ground.

• The Corotu restaurant offers buffets and a la carte international dishes served in the air-conditioned interior or outside on the terrace.  Corotu Restaurant serves a breakfast buffet every morning with fresh fruit, American and Continental breakfasts, and pastries.
• For elegance, guests should opt for the handsome, air-conditioned Chagres River View, offering a broader menu of Continental and seafood dishes.
• Los Lagartos perches over the river offers a great Sunday brunch, where patrons can spot caiman, herons and other wildlife in the river.

The small town of Gamboa has limited options for food and drinks other than a limited grocery store stocking essentials. Especially for the villas, it is best to stock up on your needs in Panama City before coming if you plan to use the kitchen.

- 10% will be charged for hotel and package cancellations made by written notice.
- 50% refund will be given for hotel and package cancellations with less than ten days of written notice.
- Hotel and package cancellations with less than five days of written notice and cases of no-show will be subject to a non-refund.
