Come to visit the Emberas, one of the indigenous communities

  • Book Now

Indigenous communities live in harmony with nature just off the Panama Canal. Enjoy a traditional boat ride up the river, learn about their culture and traditions, observe dances, guided nature hikes, and shop for local handicrafts.

Meet the Embera, living in the Chagres National Park and in its surroundings. An Embera guide will pick you up in a traditional dug-out canoe. You will then be taken for a tour of the area, and you can enjoy the area's natural beauty and learn of the flora and fauna. Then, you will be greeted by the Cacique who will welcome you.

You can also choose to follow the path of the botanist; if you are lucky, you can observe the different species of animals. Returning to Point Bohio Congress, you will enjoy a traditional lunch of plantain and fish from the river. Until lunch, you will first observe and then dance with the community.
