Panama Colonial Heritage tour

We will start this tour by visiting Panama La Vieja - the first European settlement on the Pacific Coast, founded in 1519 by the conquistador Pedrarías Dávila. Panama La Vieja was the central point of the most important trade route- the gold trade route, during the Inca Empire.

After being destroyed by the famous pirate Morgan in 1671, the city was rebuilt at the place called Casco Viejo. You will have the chance to wander the streets of the Casco Viejo, enjoy the colonial Spanish and French architecture, colonial plazas, and astonishing views on the modern city, causeway and the Pacific Ocean.

During this tour, we will visit places such as:

- Panama La Vieja, the first European settlement on the Pacific coast, which came into being in 1519.

- Casco Viejo including:

- The French Square and El Paseo de las Bovedas - At la plaza de Francia, you can visit the monument dedicated to the French workers, who died during the construction of the Panama Canal. You can also visit the statue of Ferdinand de Lesseps. 

-  The ruins of the "Convento de Santo Domingo" and "Arco Chato" 

- The "Plaza Herrera", with the statute of Panamanian heroes, is another site worth visiting. It is located very close to the "Iglesia de San José", with its famous altar of gold, which demonstrates Panama's link with Spanish artists.

-  The Metropolitan Cathedral is without a doubt the most meaningful structure and best reflects the Spanish presence due to the building's dimensions and age.

- The Panama Canal Museum and its Salón Bolívar.
